The 100th Day

Today is the last day on the MV World Odyssey.

I feel as if my heart is being ripped out of my chest.

This ship is my home. Every nook and cranny of my floating home will be missed – from the Kaisersaal to the pool to the Lili Marleen, and every square inch of space in between. I will miss the sound of the waves crashing against the sides of the ship as I wake up to grab breakfast with Moon. I will miss the makeshift classrooms, the yoga classes, Odyssey Hours, and the hours spent inside the work study office with Jean and Caroline. But most of all, I will miss all of the incredible souls I’ve met on this voyage.

I can’t fully explain why, but I couldn’t bring myself to cry like most of my friends today. Something in the back of my mind tells me that today isn’t truly the end. Somehow, I know that I will see all of these people again. The thought of saying goodbye to this Atlantic Exploration voyage hurts, but I truly believe there are greater things ahead. As I bid farewell to the shipboard community and life at sea, I reminded myself that this exchange is only the beginning to a fulfilling life.

“There are far, far greater things ahead than any we leave behind.”
