Resting Witch Face: Magic Potion

Do you believe in magic?

After wearing the Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick in “Potion” for a day, I might possibly be a new convert. The formula is about as close to magic as it gets!

As a cult follower of the ABH brand, I knew I had to get my claws on at least one shade when the entire liquid lipstick line was launched in Sephora this season. Fortunately, I’m a seasoned beauty junkie, willing to try bolder and more avant garde makeup looks, because when I was able to make it to Sephora on the day of the product launch, nearly all of the lipstick shades were gone! Poof! I figured the first shades to sell were the nudes, such as Dolce, which have become a staple for Instagram influencers and Youtube beauty gurus.  I picked up Potion, positive that I would get my money’s worth out of a dark eggplant shade. I’ve been gravitating towards almost-black lip shades since my black roots have grown out, and I figured I could add yet another lippie to the collection. (Or the other 27 liquid lipstick shades while we’re at it!)

The liquid lipstick formula is sure to shock skeptics of the ABH brand out there, as it is long-wearing yet still hydrating. As a huge fan of matte liquid lipsticks, I have come to accept the dry-as-the-Sahara-desert feel that the products leave on my lips. However, my lips didn’t crack for the full 8 hours I wore the lipstick!

The clear glass packaging with gold embroidery is sure to give you heart palpitations! I fell in love with the way the gold contrasted with the deep purple Potion shade. It’s a killer colour combo that will make anyone feel like royalty (as it should, at $26 CAD a pop!).

The “applicator” should be deemed the “magic wand” instead. It’s quite soft and picks up enough of the weightless formula for one, even coat to instantly transform you into an enchanting creature straight out of a storybook.

This shadowy, somber shade + smokey eyes + bold brows = #RestingWitchFace

Have you tried the Anastasia Beverly Hills liquid lipsticks? What’s your favourite shade?
