7 Ways to Incorporate Coconut Oil Into Your Daily Beauty Regimen

If you’re a beauty maven like me, you’re probably no stranger to the magic that is coconut oil. They say it can fix anything and everything. Well, almost everything. Now if only I could dump it all over my GPA! While I’m sure there are about a billion uses for this natural product, I figured I’d share the top 7 ways in which I use coconut oil regularly.

I personally use coconut oil as a …

1. Makeup remover.

Simply saturate a cotton pad with natural coconut oil and wipe the artwork off your face! Follow with your regular facial wash.

2. Overnight moisturizer.

Once you’ve finished up with your regular nightly routine, apply coconut oil all over your face and get your zZz’s so you can wake up refreshed for the following day.

3. Teeth whitener.

This ancient Ayurvedic secret has been cleansing toxins out of mouths for ages. I’ve been using coconut oil as a teeth whitener for 3 – 4 weeks now and I’m extremely happy with the results. All you have to do is swish a tablespoon of coconut oil in your mouth for about 20 minutes and spit it out before brushing your teeth!

If you’re curious to see before and after photos of the results, has a great post about oil pulling in more detail. It also lists all the benefits of coconut oil has for teeth cleaning for a superb smile!

4. Shaving cream.

Lather coconut oil in the desired areas of hair removal – just like your typical shaving cream!

5. Natural highlighter.

Lord knows I love my powder highlighters (I mean, who can resist Champagne Pop?!) but if I’ve decided to bare a fresh face on a particular day, I find myself resorting to coconut oil as a natural highlighter. Using your fingertips, dab a small amount on the high points of your cheekbones, chin, tip of the nose, and Cupid’s bow to get a natural glow.

6. Cuticle oil.

Every night, I apply coconut oil onto my cuticles and nail beds for extra moisture. The more moisturized your nails are, the stronger they are!

7. Hair serum.

It’s no surprise that Indian women and their mothers have been using coconut oil as an overnight hair conditioner for generations! Heat coconut oil and use your fingers to massage the warm oil into your scalp every night before bed. Cleanse your hair using your regular shampoo during your morning shower. You can also use the oil on your ends while your hair is still damp to prevent split ends and enhance shine! *flips hair*

For me, the best part about using coconut oil for a variety of purposes is that I know it’s 100% safe. In a beauty market saturated with scientific mumbo jumbo and fancy ingredients I can’t even pronounce, it gives me peace of mind that there are no harsh chemicals that could potentially damage my skin and hair in this natural beauty product. It truly is a gift that just keeps on giving.
