I know how much you guys love seeing behind the scenes photos from fashion shows. Luckily, I’ve had the opportunity to attend a number of them both in Canada and abroad and I’m ecstatic that I’m able to share this type of content with you!
I’ve attended fashion events in a few roles – as a makeup artist, model, and blogger – and I think that being in a different position within them each time gives me a greater appreciation of how much time and effort goes into producing these highly anticipated shows. I can confidently say that not all fashion runway shows (or events in general) are created equal.
In fact, the L.U.S.H. International Fashion and Arts show prepared by the Spotlight Couronne Internationale team is by far the most beautifully executed event I’ve been to recently! And, fun fact, the production team is Filipino, as were the designers 🇵🇭 Represent!
For this show, I had the honour of participating as a makeup artist. Our HMUA team leads, Lois and Gen, took us stylists and artists under their wings for the night and made sure that we were properly taken care of. These fashion shows can get extremely hectic and busy, especially as an artist, but whenever I needed clarification, these fabulous ladies gave me their full attention and made sure that all of us artists were given proper credit and appreciation for our work. They made sure we were set up for success!
I had the pleasure of meeting so many amazing models who are gorgeous both inside and out. I felt like a proud stage mom as they strutted their stuff on the runway 😂 I cannot commend the SCI Models enough for their commitment to diversity in casting. There was even a Kids section of the show – so cute! As a makeup artist, I’m all about creating a more inclusive fashion and beauty industry, especially for people of colour and the rainbow community, and I’m glad that brands and event producers are finally catching on. The show was also filled with incredibly music performances to mix it up and keep things interesting for attendees.
My September vlog is coming up and it’ll have clips from the show as well as other wedding-related shenanigans I’ve been up to lately. You can watch it on my YouTube channel when it comes out! Make sure to hit that notification bell so you know when it drops 🙂
Let me know if I should make a vertical version for IGTV~
