If there’s anything I’ve learned from Lakme Fashion Week’s Spring/Resort 2017 lineup, it’s that 6Degree Studio does not disappoint!
“Mugdha Art Studio”, presented by Sashi Vangapalli, encompasses the intricacy of the Bidri art form, a popular metalwork technique that began over two thousand years ago. The golden and silver embellishments seen on the garments are reminiscent of Bidri ware designs. Sashi Vangapalli’s regal line showcased a gradual palette, starting off with pretty pastels, then transitioning to rich yellows, and later combinations of crimson and black. The collection is suited to the modern Indian woman – one who is independent and deeply connected with her traditional roots.
LFW Day 5 highlights included the gorgeous Sushmita Sen, Indian film actress, model, and winner of Miss Universe 1994. Sushmita rocked the runway for Sashi Vangapalli in a majestic purple gown (fitting, of course, as purple is the colour of royalty!). The asymmetrical cascades flaunted her never-ending legs while the peplum bodice accentuated her supermodel waistline.
