2016 has been filled with triumphs and tribulations. Hands down one of the most prominent struggles I’ve had to endure this year is spending my first Christmas away from home.
Being from a Filipino household that throws the Christmas lights up in September and takes them down around March (we’re so extra), it hasn’t been easy being away from my family at such an important time of year.
Luckily, I’ve had the pleasure of meeting fashion designer and blogger, Prerna Mehra at the #SuKishKiShaadi wedding just in time for Christmas. Words can’t describe how grateful I am to have met someone in Mumbai with the same passion for traveling, content creation, and style. In the 4th most populous city in the world, I refuse to believe we met by chance. I think it was fate.
So, what kind of content do you get when a makeup artist meets a fashion designer?
A collaboration, of course!
Prerna and I spent Christmas day shooting, after I gave her a glamorous holiday makeover (eyebrows on fleek!) and she taught me how to wrap this gorgeous crimson Rajasthani sari that makes you feel like royalty.
Such a regal design calls for an armful of bangles, statement earrings, and festive yet comfortable platform wedges for effortless maneuvering. The satin red crop top is Label Prerna Mehra, a piece from Prerna’s designer fashion line. And of course, this ultra Desi ensemble wouldn’t be complete without a bindi!
If you’re a fellow expat spending Christmas away from home this year, my heart goes out to you! I know how lonely traveling can be at times. My wish for you is that you find kindred spirits who share your interests and ambitions, the way I found Prerna this holiday season.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
