Lately, I’ve been thinking about how much I’ve learned about blogging and social media engagement over the past few months. I’ve learned about analytics. Hashtags. All the nitty-gritty details that every
wannabe blogger should know about. But more than anything else, I’ve learned what it truly means to have genuine support from friends who believe in you, even when you don’t believe in yourself.
the more seriously i take this whole blogging thing the more fulfilling my experience in mumbai becomes 🤔

Working in the fashion world is anything but dull. Meeting style influencers and attending fashion weeks has been a dream come true. Every day is full of surprises. The cut-throat rhythm of the industry, coupled with the overall exposure I got just by being in a new country, left me in a constant state of shock. The most shocking thing I’ve experienced, though, is the realization that I didn’t know how to sell myself as a blogger. Luckily, I’m surrounded by people who want to see me succeed. Thank goodness they showed me what genuine support from your friends looks like.
Genuine support from your friends means that they introduce you to brand representatives as a blogger, even if you would introduce yourself as an employee of so-and-so company. It means reaching out to their personal contacts and helping you source designer items for your next photoshoot. It’s boosting your confidence and commending the quality of your content, even when you become disheartened after comparing yourself with other bloggers and seeing their follower counts. Sometimes, it meant fixing your dinner so you have time to finally finish that blog post that’s been in the works. It means vouching for you, being your champion.
I still have a lot to learn. About blogging. The industry. Life, in general.
Seeing how genuine support manifests itself through your personal relationships is one of those lessons I’ve been fortunate enough to learn early in life. If your friends are anything like mine, please keep them close.
Having said all of that about taking this whole blogging thing more seriously, I’m starting a new series …
As much as I want to make my blog the go-to resource for everything travel, beauty, and fashion-related, I do get bored of creating vague listicles and guides. I think Lulu Meets World should be more than just a place to read tips and tricks. It started out as a blog to document all of me learnings from traveling the world on Semester at Sea, and I’d like to keep the spirit of its inception. #MondayMusings will serve as a way for me to dump all of my thoughts into the universe, on a more consistent basis. It will be a weekly update documenting how my view of the world is shaped by my experiences in India and beyond. Hopefully, I’ll read these in a few years and laugh at how stupid I was.
Thanks for reading the first of my #MondayMusings and for supporting my passion project!
